casual-isms:

Casual racism says that black people shouldn’t listen to heavy metal.

That’s not right. Anyone can listen to whatever kind of music they like.

Examples of black performers in rock/metal include:

* Killswitch Engage = Howard Jones

* God Forbid = Howard Jones

* Sepultura = Derrick Green

* Suffocation = Terrance Hobbs and Mike Smith

* Sevendust = Lajon Witherspoon

* Wrust = an all-black band from the continent of Africa

* Oceano = Adam Warren

* Crackdust = an all-black band from Botswana

* Straight Line Stitch = Alexis Brown (black and female)

* Black Death = an all-black band

* Pure Hell = an all-black band

* Body Count = Ice T’s band in the 90’s

Of course, Jimi Hendrix was a major player in the creation of hard rock. Rock and roll itself was started by Chuck Berry, Little Richard, and other black performers. And rock music is rooted in blues and jazz, which was created by black people - such as Willie Dixon, Memphis Minnie, and Robert Johnson.
